Testing Far Cry 6 with RTX 3060 12GB and 3060 Ti 8GB

This week I could test in my computer these two graphics cards and the game Far Cry 6 where you can select HD textures. The test itself is very interesting to discover first if it is better pay by the 3060 Ti or the normal 3060 with more vram is enough.

These are my PC specifications:

●HDD 4TB Seagate Barracuda.

●HDD 2TB Seagate Barracuda.

●HDD 2TB Seagate Barracuda.

●Monitor Acer Predator XB253Q Gsync compatible activated.

●Windows 11 Pro.

These are the two graphics cards tested.

Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8GB FE.

Gigabyte AORUS GeForce RTX™ 3060 ELITE 12G.

First I have recorded the benchmark from the game and the two cards at the same time.

Second playing the game with the RTX 3060 Ti 8GB FE. In the first moments, you can note how when I rotate fast the view, it shows micro stuttering. Fortunately is minimun. 

Here you can watch how the RTX 3060 runs in the game with the HD textures and how its amount of vram is better running it. About fps, if you need more, you can activate the FSR, it is the DLSS from AMD and it runs in Nvidia graphics cards but I do not see any sense because you lose quality. FSR and DLSS must be used only when you need a boost because some effects as the Ray Tracing consume too much.

You can note how the game consume almost all the vram with the 3060 Ti and even in some points, there is a small amount of micro stuttering, exactly the same thing told at this other review https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/far_cry_6_pc_graphics_performance_benchmark_review,10.html where we can read clearly in the end this.

With the exception of the occasional random stutters and some FPS dips during large-scale combat battles, the game will be quite playable and entertaining to watch in general.

When I bought the 3060 Ti, I knew about it. Of course, it is only a game and few more with these type of HD textures, many that I do not play and many others without them where the 3060 Ti is more powerful. Anyway, I needed a RTX for my secondary computer and it was the better option for me but truly, I could easily buy another 3060 12GB, the main poin is how they cost the same or more than the Nvidia FE, a very simple model but with good performance and not high temperatures, big fan noise and other things from the other much powerful models.

About why have I not waited to the 4060? probably it will be similar in power and much more expensive, perhaps 500€. Other point is how it will not be released before 2023. These are another points that you must think if you are thinking buy a new graphics card.

Another cheap option soon, they will be the Intel ARC 770 but there are many chances that these graphics cards show problems running Directx9 games and you know how I like many old games.
